Art and regional history, it is well known for its

The Fernbank Museum of Natural History offers exciting
exhibitions, an IMAX theatre, a naturalist center
and dining room. It has a permanent exhibition and
receives traveling exhibitions throughout the year.
Those interested in Dinosaurs will particularly like
the Giants of the Mesozoic.

Martha Berry, an educator and social worker inspired
many during her life and is admired by many today.
Oak Hill, her home and estate, and the museum tell
of her life. The museum also holds memorabilia of
the schools. Guests may walk or drive to the mansion;
however, walking is recommended. Along the path guests
may visit the original cabin in which Berry taught,
which began as a boys school in 1902.

Georgia's largest African-American museum, the Tubman
museum, is dedicated to the preservation of African-American
culture, history and art. It features both static
and changing exhibitions of art by, for, and about
African Americans.
William
Weinman Mineral Museum

Considered the finest mineral museum in the southeastern
United States, the William Weinman Mineral Museum
features a variety of interactive "hands-on"
exhibits, including a walk-in simulated limestone
cave with a waterfall. The museum was founded in 1983
and contains special collections from Georgia and
around the world. Inside, mining history displays
and dinosoar exhibits can be viewed. Outside, historical
mining equipment is displayed and activities such
as gold panning and fossil hunting are possible for
an additional fee. The museum's gift shop houses a
variety of souvineers from jewllery to teaching aides.

the US Army and a non-profit organization. Fort Discovery
encompasses 128,000 square feet of hands on exhibits

Allatoona
Pass Battle Site

The Battle of Allatoona Pass was fought October 5,
1864. The site of the battle remains one of the most
well kept Civil War Battle sites, with undisturbed
physical features and many of the original landmarks.
As a Blue and Gray trail site, signs lead guests to
trenches and earthen forts.

The Davenport House, built by Isaiah Davenport in
1820, is an American Federal style house now open
for public touring Monday through Saturday. The house
is filled with period furnishings and artifacts, as
well as many of the Davenport family's heirlooms.
Etowah

Between 1000 A.D. and 1500 A.D. this site was occupied
by several thousand Native Americans. The Etowah Indian
Mounds represent a self-sufficient society that was
profoundly ritualized. The tallest mound is 63 feet
high and covers more than 3 acres. The museum, which
exhibits artifacts found in the mounds, helps to explain
their political and religious culture, as well as
their daily life. The museum also represents the Native's
beliefs and displays their artistry.

Located in the marshlands of the Altamaha River, this
plantation symbolizes more than a century of coastal
Georgia's history. It became a center for rice cultivation
in 1907, and grew to 7,300 acres of land. A museum
on the property interprets a working rice plantation,
as well as the lives of the planters and slaves.

and his leadership in the civil rights movement. Facilities
of the site include the Visitors Center where guests
can view visual programs, Ebenezer Baptist Church
where Dr. King worshiped and co-pastored with his
father, The Martin Luther King, Jr. Center for Nonviolent
Social Change, Inc. where Dr. King is buried, his
birth home (by tour only), and Fire Station No. 6.

Enjoy the scent of blooming roses and orchids as you
stroll through the gardens. The Dorothy Chapman Fuqua
Conservatory houses tropical and desert plants which
are rare or endangered.

Named for the soil's deep red color, the Red Top Mountain
State Park hosts a variety of activities. The park
is situated on the banks of Lake Allatoona. Located
on the grounds are hiking trails, beach facilities
and swimming areas, boat ramps and docks, tennis courts,
horseback riding trails and putt-putt golf. The park
also features group picnic shelters. This is one of
Georgia's most visited attractions.

Located just 16 miles outside of Atlanta, Stone Mountain
Park is said to be the largest mass of exposed granite.
The park encompasses over 3200 acres including lakes
and nature trails making this a prime recreation spot.
Hunting, camping, fishing and hiking are but a few
of the pleasures to be had here. The park is open
on a year round basis.

250 species of animals from throughout the world.
It has developed a focus on building habitats representing
the animal's natural environment.

a variety of activities. Picnic areas, tennis and
